Ti Bay Takeaways
About This Spot
Tucked away just off the main stretch of Marsden Road in Paihia, Ti Bay Takeaways unfolds as an unassuming little haven for those seeking a satisfying, no-fuss meal that feels quietly familiar. There’s a comforting rhythm here, one where the line of locals and visitors alike moves steadily but with a patient, easygoing tempo — a sign of a place valued for what it offers rather than flash or fanfare.
Stepping up to the counter, the modest setup invites a moment to take in the simple but earnest bustle of a neighborhood favorite. It’s the kind of spot where people pause mid-conversation to laugh quietly or check their phone while waiting, the atmosphere relaxed and unpretentious. The service flows at a thoughtful pace, reflecting the care in the kitchen rather than a rushed takeaway experience.
The food itself captures a feeling of the everyday elevated through genuine attention: the fish is notably fresh, the crumbs and batter carrying a light crispness that tells of well-honed craft. Here, the familiar comforts of crispy fish and chips come with subtle surprises — a delicacy in the batter’s texture or the satisfying heartiness of a burger crafted without fuss. This is a place where the taste of the sea and the care in cooking land softly together, inviting one to savor simple pleasures in a setting that feels distinctly local.
Ordering ahead by phone is a small insider’s tip, suggesting a community that returns often and trusts the quality they’ll find. Ti Bay Takeaways might not draw attention with bright lights or flashy signage, but it quietly holds a corner for those who appreciate food that feels like a deliberate, thoughtful pause in the day — honest, unpretentious, and quietly satisfying.

Was apprehensive due to some bad reviews but the food was great. Crispy fish and nicely cooked chips/fries.

Excellent fish and chips, the batter is superb light and crispy. Thoroughly enjoyed the scallops and pineapple.

Bemused by the bad reviews. This was delicious! Very glad we listened to local advice and came here for crumbed dory and chips - although I would buy my own tomato sauce next time!

Big pieces of fish, very fresh! Would recommend the first burger too. Seemed like the cheapest option for fish and chips in the area

Small takeaway tucked round the back- but it serves great food and recommend phone order through. We had crumbed Dory - the crumb was quite dark otherwise the food would be a 5 . My battered Dory was yum! Reasonable pricing and relatively fast given the line waiting.
